Rally to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Post – Radio School (1953 – 2023)

On September 17, 2023, in Hanoi, the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) held a meeting to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Post – Radio School (1953 – 2023), the predecessor unit of the Institute. 

The celebration had a participation of Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, Prof. PhD. Do Trung Ta – former Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Standing Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Ta Ngoc Tan, Secretary of Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee Ngo Dong Hai, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son, Representatives of leaders, ministries, departments, branches, partner units, localities where the school was once stationed and generations of leaders, officers, employees, lecturers, students of PTIT.

Giving a speech at the ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Hoai Bac, Director of the Institute, reviewed the school’s 70-year tradition of construction and development. Accordingly, 70 years have passed since the first Post –  Radio School was established on September 7, 1953 in Cao Van commune – Dai Tu District – Thai Nguyen Province with the same mission of training the Intermediate level: Training officers with abilities equivalent to the Head of the company; Primary system: training in two departments: the Department of Operational Exploitation, which is responsible for training postal service operators and telephone operators; The Technical Department trains electricians and electricians. This is the first training school for Postal officers under the new regime.

Experiencing many name changes such as: Postal Professional School, Postal and Broadcasting Officer School, Information and Communications Technical University, Postal Officer School, Postal and Telecommunications Training Center I and now the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology. Although the scale and level of training have changed to suit the mission requirements of each stage, this school is still the “cradle” of training the largest cadres in the country in Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology. 

In Education and Training activities, the Institute has become a bright spot in training high-quality human resources and in the digital transformation strategy of Higher Education, diversifying training fields following a multi-disciplinary and multi-field hybrid orientation like Multimedia Communication, E-commerce, Financial Technology, IoT Technology, Control Engineering and Automation, Digital Journalism… to meet the human resource needs for the Conference Living the Industrial Revolution 4.0. In the near future, the Institute will expand a number of digital transformation-oriented training majors such as Digital Economy, Game Technology,…

In Scientific Research activities, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology always maintains its position as a leading unit in carrying out Scientific Research activities according to orders from businesses and society, affirming it to be one of the leading research centers in the field of Posts, Telecommunications and information technology in the country. In addition to the assets and tasks ordered from agencies, organizations, and businesses, the Institute is a reasonable and reliable address in research and technology transfer of large domestic and foreign companies such as Qualcomm, Samsung, Naver, VinGroup, Naver, VNPT…

In his speech at the Celebration, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Hoai Bac, Director of PTIT affirmed: “Over the past 70 years, with the care and facilitation of the Party and the State, and the solidarity of citizens, the supportive of domestic and international friends; with the efforts of generations of officials and students, the former Post –  Radio School and today the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology have overcome countless difficulties and challenges, successfully completing all assigned tasks in training, scientific research, combat service and production and business, has made great contributions and dedications to the Industrialization – Modernization of the country, rising to implement Winning the task of scientific research – education – training has been entrusted by the Party, State, Industry and people. Currently, the Institute is one of the leading universities in educational digital transformation with a complete digital ecosystem for students.”.

Giving a speech at the ceremony, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung cordially sent to generations of officers, employees, lecturers, researchers, and students of the Institute his positive feelings and warmest congratulations. Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said that today is truly a big festival for the school, generations have gathered here, in a joyful and exciting atmosphere of generations of officials, lecturers and researchers, students of PTIT. “I am very happy to attend and celebrate a meaningful event, warm-hearted love between teachers, colleagues, and friends of the Institute’s teachers and students,” the Minister expressed.

During the past 70 years, along with the nation’s historical periods, the school has undergone many name changes. But at every stage, “The school has also fulfilled its noble mission of cultivating people.” “The school has trained a team of capable and dedicated scientific, technical and management staff to promptly meet the needs of the Industry throughout the revolutionary periods, from the anti-colonial resistance war invasion, then liberating the South, unifying the country, then Innovation and now building Vietnam into a developed country with high income”, the Minister noted.

Also according to the Minister, changing the perspective and changing the approach can turn a very difficult and impossible task into a feasible one. Big dreams and new perspectives are signs and conditions to become an Institute leader in the era of Digital Transformation.

“The Institute’s leaders must be leaders of the Digital Transformation era. Each generation must inherit the past and open up the future. Only then will the Institute’s flow be continuous. The Institute has a new generation of leaders, young, enthusiastic, united and aspirational. Go your own way and write the story of your generation. Come to a new destination, find and find the next generation and leave to let another generation write another new page of the Institute.”

“The best way to honor the generations that came before us is to make the Institute grow and make it grow to the next level. Today’s generation has better conditions than previous generations, so they must have bigger dreams and make greater contributions to the Institute. Today’s generation of Institute leaders must accept this responsibility.”

The Minister hopes that all staff, lecturers, researchers, teachers and students of the Institute will continue to promote the pioneering spirit and 10 golden words: “Loyal – Courageous – Dedicated – Creativity – Compassion” of the Industry and the new action motto “Exemplar – Discipline – Centroid – Breakthrough” to successfully implement the ​​Institute’s strategic goals until 2030.

As a former student and lecturer of the school, Professor. PhD. Do Trung Ta, former Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, emotionally recalled the memories of his years as a student and lecturer at the school. GS. PhD. Do Trung Ta also shared that to be mature today is to have the support of teachers and friends, and that each student needs the most patience, passion and dedication. Professor Dr. Do Trung Ta expressed his wish that “Today’s generation of students needs to pay attention to a number of points: intelligentizing digital infrastructure; intellectualize human resources and globalize all the country’s potential; standardize life as standards and ethics of AI serving development”.

Continuing the school’s 70-year history, Prof. Dr. Tu Minh Phuong, Chairman of the PTIT Council, said: “Maintaining the spirit of “Loyalty – Courage – Dedication – Creativity – Gratitude” of the Industry, promoting the tradition of heroic units in the reform period, The Institute’s collective, lecturers, researchers, and students will make more efforts, dynamism, and creativity to build the PTIT into an excellent research and training unit, contributing human resources, knowledge and technology transfer to serve national digital transformation. Maintaining the pioneering spirit in Digital Transformation of training, affirming its role as a leading university in training and research for the industry and the country.

At the Celebration, the leaders of the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology awarded medals of gratitude to the localities where the Postal School was once stationed and honored outstanding teachers of the Postal School through the ages. Also at the ceremony, the attending delegates pressed the button to launch the PTIT Digital University System.
