On April 16, PTIT organized the traditional Bunpimay New Year celebration for Lao exchange students studying at PTIT.

Prof. Dr. Hoang Huu Hanh – Director of Center for International Education; Mr. Cao Xuan Hien – Director of Service Center; Mr. Do Trung Anh – Vice Head of Department of Science & Technology Management and International Cooperation; Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhieu – Deputy Head of Politics and Student Affairs Department; Ms. Le Thi Cam Thuan – Deputy Chief of Office.
On the occasion of Lao Bunpimay New Year, Assoc. On behalf of the leadership, Prof. Dr. Tran Quang Anh – Vice President of PTIT extended traditional Bunpimay New Year greetings for 2024, wishing health, happiness, and success to Lao exchange students. He acknowledged the students’ efforts in their studies and expressed confidence that they would continue to achieve more success, contributing to the development of Laos and strengthening the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
At the ceremony, Mr. Khăm Tăn Sổm Vông – Counselor for Culture and Education, at Embassy of the Lao PDR in Vietnam also delivered a speech. He expressed joy at the achievements of Lao exchange students, affirmed the importance of Vietnam-Lao educational cooperation, and hoped that the students would continue to strive for learning to contribute to the country’s development and the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Laos.
Bunpimay, also known as the Water Festival, is the traditional New Year of the Lao people, taking place from the 14th to the 16th of April in the Gregorian calendar. It is a time for people to pray for favorable weather, abundant harvests, prosperity, and peace in the country. The year 2024 marks the 14th year that the Institute has organized the traditional Bunpimay New Year celebration for Lao exchange students studying and living at the Institute. It’s also the 14th year that Lao exchange students have celebrated Bunpimay New Year in a joyful atmosphere, fostering the close and fraternal relationship between the Lao and Vietnamese peoples.
In a cheerful and bustling atmosphere, Lao exchange students were welcomed to the traditional New Year celebration, showcasing the unique cultural beauty of their homeland. The event featured various lively activities such as traditional rituals, water-pouring ceremonies, and wristband tying. It was also an opportunity for Lao and Vietnamese students to exchange, share, and learn about the distinctive cultures of their respective countries, further strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
