On August 1st, 2023, the delegation from the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT), led by Assoc.Prof. Dr. Dang Hoai Bac, the President of PTIT, visited and had a meeting at La Trobe University in Australia.
The delegation had the presence of :Assoc.Prof. Dr. Dang Hoai Bac, the President of PTIT; Assoc.Prof. Dr. Tran Quang Anh – Vice President of PTIT; Assoc.Prof. Dr. Hoang Huu Hanh – Director of the Center for International Education; Mr. Do Trong Dai – Director of Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (RIPT); Mr. Doan Hieu – Director of Posts and Telecommunications Training Center number I (PTTC1); Mr. Pham Vu Minh Tu – International Project & Program Development Manager – Center for International Education.
La Trobe University warmly welcomed the PTIT delegation, with notable representatives including Dr. Stacey Farraway – Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Future Growth), La Trobe University; Professor Amalia Di Iorio – Pro Vice-Chancellor (Educational Partnerships), La Trobe University; Professor Rob Pike – Provost, College of Science, Health and Engineering; Professor Wenny Rahayu – Dean of School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences; and Mr. Tommy Huynh, Coordinator of International Relations in VietNam, School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (SCEMS); Professor Naveen Chilamkurti – Head of Computer Science and Computer Engineering, School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (SCEMS); Professor Simon Egerton – Deputy Head of Computer Science and Information Technology, La Trobe University; Mrs. Lisa Kendall – Director of International Relations, Educational Partnerships, La Trobe University.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Quang Anh, Vice President of PTIT, highlighted the outcomes of the two institutions’ collaboration from 2019 to 2023. Significantly, there is the Bachelor of Information Technology International Joint Program and the Bachelor of Information Technology Top-Up Program.
The Bachelor of Information Technology International Joint Program successfully enrolled a total of 10 students. Among them, three students from Cohort 1 will be continuing their second phase of study at La Trobe University, Australia, in the academic year 2023. As for the Bachelor of Information Technology Top-Up Program, 2 students of PTIT transferred to study at LTU in 2022, and in 2023, 2 PTIT students are expected to transfer to La Trobe University.
Following this, Professor Amalia Di Iorio provided an overview of La Trobe University’s recent activities and achievements. La Trobe University is currently ranked 242nd among the world’s best universities and has five campuses with 35,000 students. Professor Amalia Di Iorio also introduced the various training programs offered at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at LTU. Additionally, there are specific support policies for Vietnamese students studying at La Trobe University, which encompass accommodation, study facilities, living conditions, and opportunities for part-time work students.
During the working session, both universities also engaged in discussions regarding future cooperation, specifically in the field of postgraduate programs in Information Technology. They explored the possibility of offering joint programs in a 1+1 format or considering credit recognition for courses based on the training programs in PTIT.
Closing the meeting, representatives from two universities reached a mutual agreement to promptly implement postgraduate training activities in the near future. This indicates a strong commitment to fostering academic collaboration and furthering educational opportunities in the field of Information Technology.
