On the morning of October 13, at Hall A2, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT), Faculty of Finance and Accounting 1, and Center For International Education (CIE – PTIT) successfully organized the course “Creativity & Presenting your Presentation” for PTIT students. In this workshop, Dr. Frances-Louise McGregor – Lecturer in Human Resource Management at Huddersfield Business School attended and gave speeches.
On the side of Huddersfield University, there was the participation of Dr. Frances – Louise McGregor – Lecturer in Human Resource Management at Huddersfield Business School; Ms. Tram Nguyen – Representative of University of Huddersfield inVietnam.
On the side of PTIT, there was the participation of Assoc.Prof. Dr. Tran Quang Anh – Vice President of PTIT; Dr. Ngo Duc Thien – Head of Department of Science & Technology Management and International Cooperation; Dr. Do Trung Anh – Vice Head of Department of Science & Technology Management and International Cooperation; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Viet Duc – Head of Faculty of Finance and Accounting 1; Dr. Nguyen Van Hau – Deputy Dean of Faculty of Finance and Accounting 1; Dr. Vu Quang Ket – Head of Finance Department, Faculty of Finance and Accounting 1; Dr. Le Thi Ngoc Phuong – Head of Accounting and Auditing Department, Faculty of Finance and Accounting 1; MSc. Pham Tran Cam Van – Center For International Education; MSc. Chung Hai Bang – Secretary of Communist Youth Union of PTIT.
Speaking at the opening of the course, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Tran Quang Anh – Vice President of PTIT emphasized the strong cooperative relationship between PTIT and UoH. The course is also one of the annual activities to promote cooperation between the two sides. Besides, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Tran Quang Anh also emphasized the role of cultivating presentation skills for PTIT students, and thanked Dr. Frances-Louise McGregor took the time to share her valuable experiences.
During the course, students listened to important factors to make successful presentations. Dr. Frances-Louise McGregor emphasized the importance of adjusting the tone, pronunciation and level of repetition of the presentation’s message. Body language including gestures, eye contact, and distance from the audience will be a powerful “weapon” to convey the message most effectively.
In particular, it is necessary to focus on preparing presentation support tools such as slides, laptops, transfer ports, control pens… T.S. Frances-Louise McGregor also shared experiences so students can select the necessary images and content to put on slides.
In addition, also in this course, Ms. Tram Nguyen – Representative of UoH in Vietnam also shared about the training program between PTIT and UoH. Fintech students can participate in the 2+2 program in BA Business Management with Finance or the 2+2/ 3+1 program in BA Business with Financial Services. Then they could receive a Bachelor’s degree from PTIT and UoH. She also shared attractive scholarship opportunities of up to 4000 GBP for PTIT students.
At the end of the course, students asked questions and joined Dr. Frances-Louise McGregor discussed and practiced some specific presentation examples.
Through the course, the organization board hopes that PTIT students will accumulate a lot of knowledge and hone their presentation skills – an essential soft skill in every profession. Hopefully in the future there will be many similar courses to provide more useful knowledge for students
