SHORT-TERM COURSE ON COMMUNICATION AND DESIGN – CERTIFIED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA

University of Canberra, Australia

University of Canberra, established in 1968, is a member of the Australian New Generation Universities and one of Australia’s leading universities, ranking among the top 13 young universities globally according to the 2024 Times Higher Education Young University Rankings. Additionally, it is in the Top 65 Young Universities Worldwide for 2024.

In today’s digital communication era, with the rapid growth of the Internet and social media through images and videos, over 70% of Vietnam’s population accesses the Internet through various platforms and applications. As a result, the Multimedia Communication sector is facing a potential shortage of skilled professionals. To address this, PTIT  collaborates with University of Canberra to organize the “Global Seminar Series” course.

Global Seminar Series

This Global Seminar Series is designed for students at the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology. The course includes four specialized lectures on Communication and Design:

1. Expand Your 3D Art Knowledge: Exploring Low-Poly Techniques

The entertainment industry, including media production and game development, is growing at a phenomenal rate. This course is designed to help expand your knowledge and further establish your career in this industry by earning a residual income selling 3D assets of your own design online. In this course, you’ll learn to use Blockbench, a streamlined 3D software package perfect for creating low-poly 3D art and animation, the kind used in popular games like Minecraft and Fez. Additionally, you’ll explore Sketchfab, a free platform for showcasing and selling your 3D creations.

➖ Time: 6:00 – 9:00 PM; from October 01 to October 03, 2024

This seminar, “Campaign Planning in the Contemporary World”, is designed specifically for students eager to understand the latest trends, tools, and strategies in marketing.

➖ Time: 7:00 – 8:30 PM; October 02, 2024

➖ Lecturer: Mrs. Shara Ranasinghe

4. Design and Psychology: The Inner and Outer Worlds

The psychology of design is fascinating: continually hovering is the question of how the things we design refer simultaneously to our outer, observable, lives as well as to our inner, psychologically active and deeply personal, worlds. Design is very much about how we project outwards our inner reality. Yet this is a fraught, especially where inner and outer reality clash. In this sense, design is part of what the child psychanalyst Donald Winnicott called a mediating “potential space” which is neither fully inner nor fully outer: a location where the two worlds can be reconciled. This lecture explores some psychoanalytical thinking about design as a vital activity within this potential space.

➖ Time: 8:30 – 10:00 PM; October 02, 2024

➖ Lecturer: Mr.  Gowrie Waterhouse
