In honor of the 48th anniversary of the Lao PDR’s National Day, PTIT met with Laotian students in the afternoon on December 1.

PTIT frequently arranges meetings with Laotian students on December 2, the National Day of Lao PDR. This is an annual activity that shows the school’s concern for students. Attending the meeting, from the Embassy of the Lao PDR, there was Dr. Kham Tan SOM VONG, Counselor for Culture and Education, Embassy of the Lao PDR in Vietnam. 

On the PTIT side, there was the participation of Prof. Dr. Tu Minh Phuong – Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the PTIT Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Huu Hanh, Director of the Center for International Education; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Nhat Thang, Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate Education; Mr. Cao Xuan Hien, Director of Service Center; Dr. Do Trung Anh, Vice Head of Department of Science & Technology Management and International Cooperation, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhieu, Deputy Head of Politics and Student Affairs Department and all more than 40 Lao students studying at PTIT.

In 2023, Vietnam and Laos will celebrate their 61st anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties (1962-2023) and their 46th anniversary of signing the Vietnam-Laos Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation (1977-2023). Consequently, Professor Dr. Tu Minh Phuong expressed his happiness and satisfaction in the customary bond, unique solidarity, and all-encompassing collaboration that President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane, and Prince Souphanouvong have established between Laos and Vietnam. generated, and the populations of the two nations will keep nurturing one another for years to come, leading to significant ongoing development in every industry.

According to Dr. Tu Minh Phuong, the Lao PDR’s National Day celebration this year offers a chance to reaffirm the positive ties between Laos and Vietnam.

After more than 26 years of construction and development, Professor. Dr. Tu Minh Phuong said that PTIT has trained tens of thousands of students in the field of information and communication technology (ICT), of which PTIT is proud to have trained more than 200 officials for the brotherly country of Laos. Every year, PTIT still accepts training of international students for university and post-university studies. In the 2023 – 2024 school year, the Institute is training 40 Lao students to study undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the Hanoi training facility.

Professor Dr. Tu Minh Phuong, who possesses skill and experience in the field of training, affirms: “PTIT is ready to share resources and receive and train Lao international students now and in the future, considering helping Lao students not only as a national responsibility but also in the future.” It also represents how the Institute and all Vietnamese people feel about the friendly nation of Laos.”

In recent years, PTIT has had many practical and meaningful activities to support Laotian students staying and studying at the Institute. PTIT has created the best conditions in terms of facilities, equipment and cares about the life and spirit of international students. The number of Lao students accepted by the Institute in the near future will increase.

At the meeting, Counselor Kham Tan SOM VONG also affirmed that PTIT is the leading university in Vietnam training in the field of Information and Communications Technology, PTIT has trained for Laos has more than 200 engineers, masters, and PhDs in Information Technology, Electronics, Telecommunications… for Laos and many international students have become core and high-ranking officials of Laos. 

It is known that in 2023, PTIT will welcome 18 international students and continue to welcome 8 graduate students to study computer science in English. Counselor Kham Tan SOM VONG advised international students to study well so that they can later develop their homeland and continue to preserve and develop the friendly relationship between Laos and Vietnam.
