The collaborative workshop on project implementation, facilitated by VLIR-UOS and involving Ghent University and the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT), focused on the theme of inclusive digital transformation.
This initiative is part of the VLIR-UOS “Promoting inclusive digital transformation for rural households through multimedia solutions” (VLIR-SI Project), with Ghent University, Belgium. The VLIR-SI Vietnam project team led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Huu Hanh, Director of the Center for International Education, PTIT recently engaged in productive sessions with Ghent University and other higher education institutions in Belgium.
During the sessions at Ghent University on December 7-8, 2023, the PTIT delegation interacted with the promoters and members of the VLIR-SI Project, including:
– Prof. Dr. Tammy Schellens – Project Co-promoter, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences – Department of Educational Studies, Ghent University
– Prof. Dr. Martin Valcke – Promoter, Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences – Department of Educational Studies, Ghent University
– Dr. Carl Boel, Ghent University, team member from Ghent University, participated alongside other faculty members.
The Vietnamese coordination team for the VLIR-SI project included

– Dr. Pham Vu Minh Tu – Team member, Specialist of Center for International Education, PTIT
– Mrs. Trieu Phuong Thao, Specialist of the Department of Research Management and International Cooperation, PTIT
– Other members of the project, representatives from the Ministry of Education and Training.
Prof. Dr. Martin Valcke presented the educational and psychological scientific foundations underlying technical solutions in virtual reality (VR) for education. He also discussed the development of VR and Augmented Virtual Reality (AR/VR) in Europe, elucidating implementation methods and sharing the results of research projects conducted at Ghent University. Prof. Dr. Tammy Schellens and Dr. Carl Boel contributed insights into products related to designing immersive learning experiences with Virtual Reality technology. The valuable expertise shared by these experts is anticipated to serve as a foundation for the forthcoming phases of the VLIR project in Vietnam.
The working agenda related to the exchange of information and collaborative planning among project partners, preparing for the upcoming implementation of the VLIR-UOS project in Vietnam scheduled for 2024.
